Recipe: Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup butter, chilled, cut into 1” pieces
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. In food processor, combine salt, flour and sugar
  2. Add butter, process until it resembles course meal (15 seconds)
  3. Pour water in slowly until dough just holds together (no more than 30 seconds)
  4. Turn the dough out, form into a ball
  5. Flatten into a disk, cover with plastic wrap, refrigerate for one hour
  6. Remove, roll into a 12” circle, lifting and turning
  7. Transfer to pan, trim edges, cover with plastic, return to fridge
  8. Create filling
  9. Let crust sit at room temperature 10 minutes
  10. Fill pie, bake
